“Unlike with my other work, creating an abstract piece is more about expressing naked emotion. When I start an abstract painting, I don’t have a preconceived composition in mind. I’m letting the colors, shapes, movement, and brush strokes express what I’m feeling at that moment in time.”

“When I’m working on an abstract painting, I feel very connected to what I’m doing. It’s almost like I can feel my innermost thoughts and feelings flowing through me to the brush and onto the canvas. Each piece is an emotional and very cathartic experience. In a way, I’m laying myself bare on the canvas for the viewer to see.”

“Abstract painting is also a very freeing experience. Much like with my mixed-media pieces, there is room for experimentation which appeals to my curiosity. The mad scientist inside of me finds much joy in mixing different mediums and techniques together to see what will happen. Sometimes it’s a total chaotic mess, but other times, something magical happens.”
